Why are most kpop fans I meet irl bg stans?
So this question stems from when I went to a trading event at my city. When I got there they were very few gg stans. I myself only collect ggs (am trying to branch out tho) so I was wondering why?

I think GGs tend to have more casual listeners than fans fans like with BGs, but I also agree with the previous comments

Yesss I agree!! I’m a bg stan, but there are ggs that I like, but they’ve never really caught my attention…? I feel like a lot of ggs can be either very similar aesthetic or similar music vibes (not always ofc, but some are similar). I feel like a lot of bgs are also like bigger outside of kpop (?) so they’re more worldwide known?

This is so real!! Everyone I’ve met in real life who likes kpop ONLY likes boy groups! I’m fine with bg’s but I really wanna meet other gg stans!

Fandom Spaces are dominated by women. While ggs might not have smaller fandoms, male fans tend to participate in fandom culture (like events and online spaces) less than female fans.

I’m a bg Stan but also Stan some gg. Honestly like OP said it’s js probably bc most Stan’s are female, we tend to fangirl bc we find the bg’s attractive. Obviously gg’s are beautiful and gorgeous but it’s more excited and thrilling to buy merch with guys faces on it if that makes sense

Seeing as a majority of kpop stans are female, bg's probably appeal to them more! It might not be that they don't stan gg's at all either, they might just ult a bg :>
