does aesthetic packaging matter?

in trading/selling nowadays i see a lot of pressure for everything to look aesthetically pleasing but i think that shouldn’t be the case. for me all that matters is that my card arrives safely and quickly. not how cute its packaged. (i also think it can be wasteful to buy a bunch of things that get thrown away the second it reaches the buyer/trader. you basically spent money and time for the cute packaging to sit in transit. i’m not saying they can’t be repurposed but sometimes i see buyers expecting a brand new toploader/sleeve for each sell and that’s a soo wasteful) i wanted to ask what everyone else thinks on the topic. :))

To be honest, what matter is that it comes safely, and if it’s aesthetic it’s a plus but it don’t really matter !

i think it's okay but absolutely not mandatory. as someone who always reuse/repurpose packaging from cards i bought to pack cards i sell/trade i personally don't do this simply bcs it's not cost-effective

short answer it absolutely doesn’t but i personally enjoy both receiving nicely packaged pcs as well as sending them just because i find it fun but to each their own <3

in my opinion safety should always be the top priority. it is fun to receive something that is packaged cutely and i can definitely appreciate the effort a seller puts into packaging it that way, but the most important thing is that the item I payed/traded for arrives safely. when i am selling or trading i do sometimes try to package it a cute way using what i already have and i do always try to include some kind of freebies (which also isn’t mandatory !! have literally been asked by people if the item i was selling came with freebies 😒 like you’re paying for the item not the extras) i do agree with you that buying a bunch of stuff to pack something in a cute way can be wasteful. i personally reuse what i already have. the most that you might have to buy if you’re just starting out is maybe a pack of toploaders, cards and envelopes. i personally wouldn’t spent my money on all those cute packaging you see on aliexpress or other sites like that, but to each their own ♥︎

If the person enjoys packing cutely they should do it but its definitely not mandatory

Personally I have fun making my packaging cute! It makes it feel like less of a chore for me, especially on days where I have a lot going out. On the receiving end, I don't care if it's cute! As long as it gets to me safely, and I save everything I can (toploaders, sleeves, etc)

As someone who doesnt trade often, I dont have ANYTHING cute to give/pack😭 I always feel bad and everything but I feel like it arriving perfectly is the most important, even tho we all obviously love and enjoy cute packaging

Heyy so I usually am very excited about cute packaging and I tend to try to keep everything used and throw away the least as possible- but I still think you’re right.I am equally happy if my photocards just arrive safely and, if possible quickly. I think in general if one does cute packaging or gives out freebies it’s better for the reputation, but I don’t think it’s necessarily needed at all.🫶🏼
