For me it would be that nursery rhyme trend in songs 😭😭 or even that ai song getting promoted like nah let’s not

not really a fan of this trend recently of companies debuting idols super young and seemingly unprepared/with not enough training. i don’t know if it’s because companies want to create these kind of stories where fans in the future can say “oh look how much this idol has improved!!” to further fuel parasocial relationships or that they figured out that fans will spend money regardless, so why waste money/time on training? (i’m leaning more towards the second reason)
it also puts these young idols in positions where they will receive a lot of criticism and hate when they debut. i feel like it would make way more sense to just wait a few years and give these idols more training and then debut them.
i also feel like that debuting idols without enough training lowers the standards of kpop stans in terms of what a good singer and performer is. i get it on one hand because fans want to defend their faves and that’s why they’ll say things like “there still young, they will improve” but on the other hand i keep thinking more and more to myself, “is this level really what i have to accept of what a good singer/performer is?”

Yes ! Improvement is obviously normal for any artist, but there’s a difference between watching an idol grow as a performer with years and debuting someone before they’re actually ready. Especially almost children idols (like some are 13-14 when debuting ??) then expecting the audience to lower their standards because of their age.
Companies can and should absolutely invest in training and development before debut instead of treating the idol’s debut period as the training period. They really should put a minimum age. The hate some of them have is so wild and damaging.
