fan wars in general are annoying, but the whataboutism especially irks me. if I bring up a valid point of critism you don't need to bring up a whole "what about when this group did this?" it's just a stupid way to ignore the topic being brought up. if you cant bring up good arguments then don't get into one (`ε´ )
i think ppl who seem to wanna look like a megafan, despite them just stanning them less than a year ago. I have had very bad experiences to the point people call me a fake fan, despite me liking the group way longer than the person who says so. The person who has been doing this to me has been putting me down on social media, which truly breaks my heart. They have also brought their friends with them to purposely identify me as a fake kpop stan. I wish both older and newer fans would see each other as equals.
Fans failing to respect idols and their boundaries even when the idols or companies go out of their way to kindly explain them and why they exist. Treating everyone, especially someone you claim to love and support, with respect and kindness should be the norm, not something that has to be asked for or enforced.
- Non-standard photocard shapes: Bigger photocards, mini photocards, photocards without a round edge, lenticulars. I just find them really hard to store and display, because they don't look right next to my other pcs.
- Excessive filters and whitewashing, especially by fansites. I understand using filters and how stage makeup and lighting can lighten skin, but sometimes if it's used too much, the idols can look unrecognisable.
- Fanwars, I completely agree with your point on Fanwars, we're all just here to support our favs at the end of the day, not bring others down!
- The underpriced member, I hate hate hate when a member is underappreciated due to visuals. Even though I don't stan them, I see this a lot with Straykids Changbin and I see this with one of my ults Xlov Hyun. The merch of these members is sold at a much lower price than others, especially in Korean markets. It feels really disappointing to see them not appreciated for their talents simply for their skin tone, visuals, body etc.
