I've personally been using the Audio Technica LP60XBT for the past 6 years and haven't had any issues. There are pricier turntables out there but I'm happy with the one I got. You do need speakers as well but because it says 'BT' you can easily connect it to a small Bluetooth speaker as well! I use a JBL one that works great so I don't really need to buy big matching speakers to go along with it

I bought a DJ turntable for a good price at a second hand store a few years ago.

It really depends on how much you want to spend, a *good* record player will run you a few hundred dollars to start. I've heard good things about Audio-Technica AT-LP60X as a starter turntable. I have an Akai that I like a lot. I personally would steer clear of the all-in-one suitcase-style record players, they tend to have built-in needles that will wreck your vinyl.

I just heard that some from the various websites and applications damage the discs :(

if you’re a super casual listener getting anything is honestly fine but if you’re going to be listening a lot and collecting records i’d suggest going to your closest record store and seeing what vintage ones they have and they can maybe help you get a nice set up
